How We Rate Casinos: Our Review Method for Canadian Players

Wintino.ca is a small, independent editorial team that reviews the Wintino online casino for players in Canada. We are not the casino, we do not run any games, and we never hold player money. Who writes our reviews

Reviews are written by Ryan Chen, an Ontario-based writer who has been testing online casinos for Canadian players since 2018. Every figure — bonus amounts, wagering multipliers, limits and payout times — is then checked by Émilie Tremblay, a Montreal-based payments editor, before anything goes live. When the two of them disagree on a score, the lower number wins until a retest settles it.

How we test a casino

We do not rate a casino from its promotional pages. Each review is based on a real account, opened in Canada with our own money:

1. Registration and KYC. We sign up as a normal player, then go through identity verification with standard Canadian documents and note how long approval takes and what extra paperwork is requested.
2. Deposits. We deposit with at least two methods, usually Interac e-Transfer and a card, and record minimums, fees and how quickly the balance updates.
3. Bonus in practice. Where a welcome offer is available we claim it, read the full terms and try to follow them as an ordinary player would. We flag max-bet rules, excluded games and win caps that are easy to miss.
4. Games. We play a spread of slots, live dealer tables and instant games on desktop and on both Android and iPhone, looking at load times, stability and the providers behind the catalogue.
5. Timed withdrawal. We request a payout, start a timer and record every step until the money reaches our bank or wallet. This is the single test that tells us most about a casino.

How the final score is calculated

We multiply each criterion score by its weight, add the results and divide by two to turn a 10-point result into a 5-point rating, rounded to one decimal. A serious problem overrides the maths: if a withdrawal is refused without a clear reason, or the terms contain a rule we consider unfair, we cap the overall score at 3.0 regardless of the other results and say so plainly in the review.

How often reviews are updated

We recheck the key facts — welcome offer, wagering, payment limits — at least once every three months, and repeat a timed withdrawal at least twice a year. Anything that changes between checks is fixed as soon as we notice it or a reader tells us. Every update is logged with a date in the “Update log” panel near the bottom of the review, and the “Updated” date in the byline always shows the last time the page was checked.
